Damn Good Coffee. End of Story.
This review will be short, because this is a tiny cafe with an even tinier menu. At Mazagran, you can order coffee: espresso, cappuccinno, latte, flat white, or mochaccino. If you ask nicely you may even have a hot chocolate, although I suspect the proprietors will publicly mock you. This is a place for serious coffee people...you know, the kind who wear black and discuss art theory and politics on the sidewalk in the middle of the day because they apparantly don't have normal jobs and/or are unemployed. The Mazagranites roast all their beans on the premises, which creates a glorious aroma that no doubt has attracted many a passerby, myself included. For $10 (cash only, no plastic accepted here) you can buy a bag of their freshly roasted beans to take home and make sweet love to. My flatmate, who doesn't even drink coffee, will often stand uncomfortably close to the open bag as I prepare my morning brew "just to smell them." Yes, their beans are that good. My only criticism of Mazagran is the fact that they serve all their beverages in vulgar, trendy, clear glasses, as opposed to respectable, classic, opaque cups. I don't want all the perverts staring into the depths of my coffee glass while I sit there, feeling naked and violated! For God's sake! Bottom Line: Go for the beans. Leave before the coffee-residue fetishist sitting next to you whacks off into your clear empty glass. - * A-Star * , posted 04/04/06
