Mad Dogs and Englishmen on Manukau Road has had a checked past, including going under, changing name, reopening, closing and then reopening as Mad Dogs again; and once being held up at gunpoint in the early hours. Out of the main CBD area, it's developing a quiet and yet loyal group of regular characters. The ambience is non-existent, but it never gets too crowded or unpleasant. A wide range of beers, whiskeys and spirits are available. The food is also pretty good, although the kitchen closes at 9pm. Lots of outdoor space, with enclosed balconies that have wide-opening windows. Four pool tables, decent toilets, and generally no idiots. - Unsubscribed , posted 11/11/05 |
